Thank you for this good (very good) story. It’s well written. You have deveopped a good plot. Your main characters are strong and « your » Roxane is stronger than Rostand’s. She takes Cyrano’s role with the tirade - la tirade des nez - in the original version. Rostand’s Roxane is just a nice numnut.
What is intersting is the slow eclosion of Chris after his meeting with Roxane. You give us a good description of the relationship between your main characters and of its development. They look like « real » humain beings and not like some porn stars.
Somehow, in your comment about the « happy End » you are wrong: you had a choice that Rostand had not. He had to « stick » to his model. Rostand’s work was inspired by the life and death of the french writer Savinien François Cyrano, later known as Cyrano de Bergerac. Cyrano was a soldier, then a writer and a polemist. A few of his texts were forbidden by the power. He died when he was 35 years old like Rostand describes his death. Accident, murder this was never clarified. One thing is certain: this Cyrano knew how to gain enemies…
A few texts remains : Histoires comiques des empires du soleil et de la lune ( A Voyage to the moon: with some account of the Solar World, 1754).
