Can get a pill cutter and cut them easily. I have the 150s and they are divided by 50 mgs. I even cut one and get 25mgs. That is what I use and if I need more I just take 50mgs. I used to be on 100mgs but have since weaned myself off with my doctor being aware of it. For now I am back on 25mgs, just helps me fall asleep since menopause kicked in. Have you tried Lunseta or Ambien ? I had to discontinue Trazodone for the same reason, ambien worked very well and so did Lunesta. I understand as I went thru this. I was on this and stoped 45 days ago. I was addicted to thinking I would never sleep without it. My dr said. Taper off. Melatonim and eventually my pattern would come back. I take 2.5 melatonim and if it doesn't work add another500 mcg from trader joes. Actually it works and even more when I don't worry about it. So yes your right about that. If its for only insomnia I would tell others to be cautious. I became dependent and it causes anemia and can not be good to knock myself out regularly. Very happy that I am not taking it. But it might work for others and I did take it so it worked but I didn't like the physical and psychological side effects. I'm also thinner now and my mind much more clear. (just an opinion) Elaine Pacileo 11 May 2013 I have been taking trazodone for a few years. I started with 50 - 100 mg/nightly then recently increased to 150mg. I had the same issue with feeling like a slug the day after and have added 3 - 6 mg melatonin to my nightly routine. It works wonders. The trazodone gives me a full night's sleep and the melatonin helps me feel awake and alert the next day. I too am afraid to stop with this routine since my insomnia was so extreme before this treatment. Good luck jazzmine. If you have recently started this medication, chances are that you'll start feeling more alert in the mornings once your body gets used to it. Often, we need sleeping aids to get back in to a good bedtime routine, and a short course can significantly improve sleep patterns. Anxiety about not being able to sleep will cause problems, easy to say don't worry, but take heed in what i have written, you could find your sleep greatly improves even after stopping the Trazodone. I was prescribed an antidepressant (Amitriptyline) to aid sleep, i started at 50mg but have managed to decrease to 20mg with the same effects. Have you tried one and a half pills?
