HomeQ & AQuestionsHow do I take my first day of... Question posted by Daisho97 on 25 March 2017 Last updated on 23 August 2020 by Lesleyann42 My doctor prescribed me prednisone for 6 days. 4mg dose pack. He said the instructions would say to start it in the morning but he wants mw to start it tonight instead. Is it ok to take all 6 day 1 pills at one time or should I wait till tomorrow and space it out like the instructions say to do? When taking steroids they need to be taken am as soon as you get up and all at once. Or they won't work. All 6 together. Take 2 morning,2 afternoon,2 at night I was actually looking this question up for my benefit, and finally read the package. On day 1 you MUST take all six, and it’s ok if you choose to take in one single dose, or split up however you like.On days 2-6 though it is very specifically listed on the package on how you take it. manilowmaniak 20 May 2018 I had the same question but 6 years down the road. You should not take all 6 at once. I got the same prescription today and on the back of the packaging gives you instructions on when to take them. It starts with only 2 before breakfast, 1 after lunch and supper and 2 before you go to bed. That is day 1 only. Check with your doctor or pharmacist NOT the internet(ha) if you are unclear. If your stated to say take one 4mg tablet tonight then do so but you should not take all the 6 day course of medication in one hit as you will be up all night drinking and going for a wee so read the label on your medication as to what it states on it from the pharmacy and if your still unsure go back and speak with the pharmacist for guidance.I am on these drugs following my liver transplant and over a 6 month period had the level reduced and have spoken with my team of doctors if unsure via email. I understand your unsureness about using them as I have asthma as well.
